The "Clips of the Day" will consist of a sermon excerpt and/or a song from some of my favorite preachers and singers. I hope they will bless you as much as they have blessed me. --Editor
On June 1, 1986, with a Bible in one hand and a one thousand dollar offering given to him by his parents in the other hand, the twenty-one year old Michael Pitts came to Toledo, Ohio. Joined by his wife, Kathi, his brother, Robert and his wife, Kelly, they formed the nucleus leadership team committed to seeing a spirit-filled church birthed in Toledo.
Robert secured the keys to a storefront building on Central and Douglas and began modest renovation of the leased space. Kelly hand painted the first sign for the exterior of the building announcing service times and the name Cornerstone in bright red letters. Would anyone come to this new church? Would anyone hear this unknown twenty-one year old pastor?
Thirty-five people attended the first Sunday morning service of Cornerstone. Pastor preached with passion to the hopeful handful. Sister Kathi sang and helped Sister Kelly teach the children. Pastor Robert added his faith to the zero balance budget and made it work.
